Charlie Hebdo’s New Issue Has Muhammad on the Cover – NYTimes.com

Perhaps the biggest failure that these so-called defenders of their faith have made,  apart from the despicable atrocity they committed,  is that they repeatedly failed to separate the individual from the idea. Because publications like Charlie Hebdo are more than just about the cartoonists and the journalists. They are about the notion of freedom – the idea that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and anyone can tell them how ridiculous it is.
There is no doubt that the actions of these terrorists have only managed to bring the journal in the spotlight; to make heroes of these fallen soldiers of liberty; turn Charlie Hebdo into a household name. And rightly so.
